Nine comparisons · Updated August 2026

Every comparison, including the ones we do not come out of well

We wrote all nine of these ourselves, which is normally a reason to distrust them. So each one leads with what the other tool does better. Three of them are faster than we are. One of them has data we simply do not have.

Before you read any of them

  1. 01

If raw alert speed is the only thing you care about, three tools on this page beat us: Madealert in seconds, Trove in about sixty seconds, SearchDome in ten minutes. We check hourly.

  2. 02

What we add on top is valuation. Price history on items you watch, and a read on whether a listing is priced under comparable ones. Most of the fast alert tools do not do that part.

  3. 03

Nothing here is exclusive. Running a fast alerter alongside us is a completely reasonable setup, and several of these pages end by saying so.

  4. 04

Competitor pricing and check intervals change. Every figure on these pages was accurate when the page was written, and the right move is always to check the other tool's own site rather than trust a number in a comparison article.

01 · The comparisons

All nine, alphabetically

Alphabetical, not ranked. Each blurb includes the part where the other tool is the better pick.

01

vs eBay saved searches

Both are free, and most people should run both. We re-run every saved search hourly on eBay US and score the prices we find.

eBay covers every one of its marketplaces. We only search eBay US.
02

vs Item Alert

A real, free eBay alert tool. Its own registration page currently says new account registration is disabled, and its FAQ attributes that to hitting an eBay API usage limit.

Existing accounts still work. If you already have one, nothing here is a reason to move.
03

Is there a Keepa for eBay?

No. Keepa tracks Amazon and there is no eBay mode to switch on. This page covers what does the equivalent job on eBay, and what you give up.

For Amazon, Keepa is the tool, with years of price history and a browser extension. We do no Amazon at all.
04

vs ListingAlarm

A free, email-only alert tool with detailed keyword filtering. It describes itself as near real time without publishing a check frequency. Ours is hourly and we say so.

It is free with no paid tier, and its keyword filtering is more detailed than ours.
05

vs Madealert

Madealert sends alerts within seconds of a listing appearing, which beats our hourly check by a wide margin. Its free plan caps you at 10 active alerts.

On raw speed it wins, and it is more configurable per alert. We are slower and not metered.
06

vs SearchDome

Free since 2004, and its free tier checks eBay every 10 minutes, which is faster than we are. Its 1, 2 and 5 minute Rapid Search tiers are paid.

Faster on the free tier, and it can exclude a specific seller. We cannot do that.
07

vs SeeSpotBid

A well built iOS and Android app. The free tier caps you at 10 saved searches checked hourly, and faster checks live behind a paid plan.

It is a real native app with a real app experience. We run in a browser and have no app.
08

vs Trove

A genuinely free mobile app that alerts within about 60 seconds, capped at 20 saved searches. Supported by eBay affiliate links rather than a paid tier.

Much faster than our hourly schedule, free, and no paid upsell waiting for you.
09

vs WatchCount

WatchCount shows sold prices and watcher counts. We do neither. Different jobs, and most people want both open.

Sold price data is the thing we do not have, and it is the better answer to what is this worth.
02 · The honest summary

What we are and are not

We are a reasonable pick if

  • You want to know whether a price is good, not only that a listing exists.
  • You want price history on the items you watch, recorded every six hours from the day you add them.
  • You do not want a saved search limit or an alert meter.
  • You buy on eBay US and would rather not install an app.
  • You want it free with no paid tier waiting behind it.

Look elsewhere if

  • Minutes matter to you. Hourly is hourly, and a sniped bargain is gone long before we email.
  • You need sold prices. We score against active asking prices only, never against what anything sold for.
  • You buy outside eBay US, or you buy on Amazon.
  • You want a browser extension, a native app, or a public API. We have none of the three.
  • You need to exclude a specific seller from results.

If a comparison on this page talks you into the other tool, it did its job.

Track eBay prices free

Hourly alerts on your saved searches, price history on what you watch, and a read on whether a listing is priced well.
